This one-man show was first staged at the Granary Theatre in Cork in 1999 and featured the playwright in the leading role. Walsh later directed a substantially revised version at the Black Box, Galway, in 2011 with Cillian Murphy as Thomas Magill.
Thomas Magill is Misterman - a self-styled preacher watching over the moral welfare of the small rural town of Inishfree. Every day Thomas steps into the world to buy his withered mother a packet of jammy dodgers, and every day encounters anew the ills of Inishfree: the selfish children, the graceless women, the immoral men with their Penthouse calendars. Thomas lives inside his own head but today that safe place is beginning to doubt itself. Just how far will he go in his quest for salvation?
