The School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures, University College Cork, in partnership with Literature Ireland, seeks applications from German-language literary translators for a residential bursary in Cork. This is an opportunity for a translator to travel to Ireland and live and work on the beautiful UCC campus in Cork City.
In Spring 2023, we will award one bursary of twelve weeks’ duration. The bursary will be awarded to a practising literary translator who is working on the translation into German of a work of contemporary Irish literature.
Travel and living expenses will be covered by Literature Ireland, while accommodation and a work space will be provided by the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures, University College Cork. The successful candidate will be asked to work on their translation-in-progress, to immerse themselves in Cork’s rich literary and cultural life, and to hold one public event near the end of their stay, focusing on their translation work.
