The Death of Harry Leon

Conall Quinn

Set in Dublin during the Second World War, this play explores the horror scenario of a pro-Hitler Ireland in order to ask probing questions about national identity, xenophobia and ideology. When a German-backed, Gaelic-fascist minority seizes control in the capital and begins to send Protestants and Jews to concentration camps in the west of Ireland, Jewish poet Harry Leon struggles to redefine his Irish identity and the role of his writing.
