Flacari himerice, edited by John Fairleigh - "Belfast's unofficial ambassador to Romania" - introduces Romanian readers to ten contemporary Irish poets. Among the poets included are Seamus Heaney, Brendan Kennelly, Ciaran Carson and Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin, who have been translated by eminent Romanian poets. This anthology is the companion book to When the Tunnels Meet: Contemporary Romanian Poetry (Bloodaxe, 1996), which contains works by ten Romanian poets, translated in turn by well-known Irish poets.
