Mountains, the sea and the elementary, continuous perception of the beauty of the threatened world inspire many of Moya Cannon's poems. Through archaeology and geology she accesses a deeper understanding of our mysterious relationship with the natural world and its past. Music, especially the traditional Irish folk music, is of special importance to her and is a recurring theme in her poetry.
