Renate Ahrens

Renate Ahrens was born in Herford, Germany, and studied English and French at the universities of Marburg, Lille and Hamburg. She worked as a teacher for a few years, before moving to Dublin in 1986 and becoming a freelance writer. Her works include texts for German children's radio, scripts for children's television, and a radio play for Irish radio (RTE). In 1998, her first play was produced in Dublin, and her first children's book was published in Germany. Many more have since followed, predominantly German-English detective and friendship stories. Two novels for adults and two plays appeared between 2001 and 2008. Several of her children's books have been translated into English.
