Oisin McGann
A native of Dublin, Oisin McGann briefly studied animation at Dun Laoghaire School of Art and Design and worked as a designer in Dublin and London. He has written and illustrated books for children aged six years and upwards, such as the Mad Grandad and Forbidden Files series. For the young adult market, McGann has written the highly acclaimed fantasies The Gods and their Machines, The Harvest Tide Project (2004), Under Fragile Stone (2005), and, more recently, the dystopian thrillers Small-Minded Giants (2006) and Ancient Appetites (2007). Under Fragile Stone was shortlisted for the Bisto Award and praised for its 'awesome fertility of invention and richness of language'. McGann is currently working on two new projects: The Goblin of Tara, set in ancient Ireland, and Wired Teeth, a story about the boy with the worst teeth in the world whose problems only really start when he gets computer-controlled braces.
