Micheál Ua Ciarmhaic
1906 - 2005
Born in Co. Kildare as a fisherman's and farmer's son, Micheál Ua Ciarmhaic grew up in rural Ireland. It could be said that he was a man of the past but that his public life did not begin until 1984 when Coiscéim published his first book, Cliathán na Sceilge. He didn't start writing until the late 1970s, but has still produced four poetry collections, Íochtar trá (1985), Barra taoide (1988), Ceol madaí rámha (1990), and Chuireas mo líonta (1993). He was also a painter and wrote two short books about nature.
