Maeve Binchy

Maeve Binchy was born in Co. Dublin and educated at University College Dublin where she studied history. She worked as a teacher before joining The Irish Times in 1969. Binchy is the author of several volumes of short stories and many bestselling novels, some of which have been adapted for TV and cinema. She was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the British Book Awards in 1999.
