Deirdre Purcell
Born in Dublin, Deirdre Purcell is a former Abbey Theatre actress and journalist who worked for radio, TV and several newspapers. She is the recipient of the Benson & Hedges and A.T. Cross Journalist of the Year Awards. Purcell has written several number one bestsellers, starting with her very first novel, A Place of Stones (1991). Falling for a Dancer (1994) was later adapted for film and Love, Like, Hate, Adore (1997) was shortlisted for the prestigious Orange Prize. Other works of fiction include Marble Gardens (2002), Last Summer in Arcadia (2003), Children of Eve (2005), Tell me your Secret (2006), and Somewhere in Between (2007). In 2006, her memoir, Diamonds and Holes in my Shoes, was published. Deirdre Purcell lives in Co. Meath.
