Dáithí Ó hÓgáin

Born in Bruff, Co. Limerick, Dáithí Ó hÓgáin was educated at University College Dublin. As Professor of Irish Folklore in UCD, his main interests lie in the interplay between folklore and literature and the ways in which folklore enriches the individual imagination and creative culture. Ó hÓgáin has published six collections of poetry, among them Cois Camhaoireach (1981), Idir an Dá Dhealbh (1988) and Footsteps from Another World (2001), and three short story collections: Breacadh (1973), Imeall an Bhaile (1986) and Scéalta Nua (2001). His literary and folklore research includes Fionn Mac Cumhaill (1988), Celtic Warriors (1999), The Sacred Isle (1999), The Celts - A History (2002), and Ireland -People and Places (2003). A well-know broadcaster on radio and television, Ó hÓgáin has also had four radio plays produced.
