Conor McPherson
Conor McPherson was born in Dublin and studied English and Philosophy at University College Dublin. He emerged as one of the most important Irish playwrights of the 1990s and his works have garnered numerous awards, among them the Stewart Parker Award in 1995, the 1997 Meyer Whitworth Award, the 1999 Best Play Olivier Award and Critics Circle Award for The Weir. His hit film, I Went Down, won the Best Screenplay award, Best New Director award and a jury prize at the San Sebastian Film Festival. McPherson's plays have been produced at the West End and on Broadway and have been translated for performance in Germany, Poland, Scandinavia, France, Belgium, Portugal, Argentina, Uruguay and Japan. This Lime Tree Bower, The Good Thief and Rum and Vodka are published in one volume by Nick Hern Books, as are St Nicholas and The Weir.
