Carlo Gébler
Born in Dublin, Carlo Gébler was brought up in London and studied at the University of York and the National Film and Television School, Beaconsfield. His novels include The Eleventh Summer (1985), Work & Play (1987), Malachy and his Family (1990), Life of a Drum (1991), The Cure (1994) and How to Murder a Man (1998). Carlo Gébler has written two plays, Dance of Death (2000), a version of August Strindberg's work of the same name, and 10 Rounds (2002), an adaptation of Arthur Schnitzler's La Ronde, relocated to Belfast. His memoir, Father & I, was published in 2000 and The Siege of Derry, a history, in 2005. Among his works for children are Caught on a Train (2001), shortlisted for a Bisto prize, August '44 (2003) and The Bull Raid (2005), a modern retelling of the Cattle Raid of Cooley. The Dead Eight was nominated for The Kerry Group Irish Novel of the Year in 2012. Carlo Gébler lives in Enniskillen.
