Bríd Ní Mhóráin
Bríd Ní Mhóráin was born in Newmarket, Co. Cork, but her family moved to Camp, in West Kerry, when she was very young. She worked as a language teacher in Tralee from 1975–2001. She was employed by Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne, with support from Ealaín na Gaeltachta, as writer in residence in Corca Dhuibhne between 2003–2017.
Her poetry collections include Ceiliúradh Cré (1992), Fé Bhrat Bhríde (2002), Pietas (2010), Saothrú an Ghairdín (1997), Síolta an Iomais (2006), An Cosán Bán/The White Path (2008), and Glórtha ón gCillín (2015).
She was joint editor of The Best of Irish Poetry/Scoth na Filíochta 2008 (Munster Literature) and edited Idir Chruach is Chuan (2007). Some of her work has also been published online. She was awarded Oireachtas poetry prizes (1988 and 1989) and an Oireachtas prose prize (1992) as well as first prize for a poem in Irish at Dún Laoghaire/Rathdown International Poetry Festival (2005). The Arts Council granted her five bursaries and Ealaín na Gaeltachta two. In recent years, she has participated in collobarative work with Scottish based artists who exhibited in Ireland, Scotland and England.
