Brendan Kennelly

Brendan Kennelly is one of Ireland's most distinguished poets, as well as a renowned teacher and cultural commentator. Born in 1936 in Ballylongford, Co. Kerry, he was Professor of Modern Literature at Trinity College, Dublin, for over thirty years. Kennelly has published more than twenty books of poetry, criticism, drama, novels and anthologies. His poetry collections include: Cromwell (1983), Poetry My Arse (1995), The Man Made of Rain (1998), Glimpses (2001), and Familiar Strangers: New & Selected Poems (2004). The collection The Book of Judas even topped the Irish bestsellers list when it was published in 1991.
