Alex Johnston

Alex Johnston is a playwright and actor. His plays include: What the Dead Want, Royal Supreme, and Melonfarmer (1998). His play Entertainment (2004) was nominated for an Irish Times Theatre Award for best new play, while his work Melonfarmer won him a Stewart Parker Award.

As an actor, he has appeared in many Bedrock productions including The Life of Stuff and The Skriker. Johnston has also performed with Loose Canon, Corn Exchange and The National Theatre. Alex Johnston has a long association with Bedrock Theatre Company, having worked for them as a writer, performer, producer, and dramaturg. He was also appointed acting Artistic Director of the company from 2007-2008.
